Learn and Master Blues Guitar Review
Rating:
Steve Krenz has followed up the phenomenal success of his the DVD course, Learn and Master Guitar, by creating a smaller, more focused, "spotlight" instructional series
of DVDs that is dedicated to teaching students how to play Blues guitar.
Summary: Learn and Master Blues Guitar is an excellent course for most
guitarists interested in learning to play Blues guitar.
Format: The format of this instructional course is similar to its big
brother, Learn and Master Guitar. There are 6 DVDs totaling more than eight hours of instruction. Additionally,
there is a both a Jam Along CD and a Jam Along DVD. Together they total 22 Jam Along tracks that provide a perfect
opportunity for the student to apply the lessons learned in the instructional DVDs. To complement this material,
the Blues Guitar course includes a 109-page PDF file that purchasers can download from the Learn and Master
website.

An interesting addition to the Blues Guitar spotlight series is the inclusion of interviews with
two world-class Blues players: Jack Pearson (Allman Brothers Band, Jimmy Buffet, et. al.) and Johnny Hiland (Ricky
Skaggs, Steve Vai, et. al.). These players discuss a wide range of topics with special emphasis on the Blues.
Subjects include: gear, technique, warming up, effects, tunings and many others. If you like gaining valuable
insight from accomplished guitarists, you'll love these interviews.
Purchasing Learn and Master Blues Guitar also entitles you to access Legacy Learning Systems'
online guitar community. The forums have been updated to include areas specifically for students working through
the Blues Guitar series. This is a great way to communicate with fellow guitarists who are working on the same
material and often have the same questions and issues.
Strengths: By taking the formula that worked so well with Learn and Master
Guitar and applying it to the focused subject of the Blues, Steve Krenz and Legacy Learning Systems have created a
solid product. The instruction is thorough and well organized. The Jam Along CD and DVD are key ingredients for
practical musical progress. The online support community helps students not feel isolated during the learning
process.
Could Be Better: Color photos in the PDF file would have been nice (apart
from the cover-page, I mean). However, I suppose that’s nitpicking.
Testimonials: Here's what the interviewed Blues guitarists had to say:
"I really enjoyed working with Steve on the blues course, he's a fine guitarist and an
excellent instructor. The Legacy Learning Systems products are top notch." Jack
Pearson, guitarist, Allman Brothers Band, Jimmy Buffett
"Legacy Learning Systems provide a wonderful, informative, and user-friendly way to
learn guitar. It's fun, easy to use, and inspirational!!!" Johnny Hiland, guitarist,
Ricky Skaggs, Toby Keith, Steve Vai
Recommended For: This course does assume some basic familiarity with the
guitar. So, if you are a complete beginner, I would suggest you hold off on buying Blues Guitar and instead start
with the original (see our Learn and Master Guitar Review).
However, if you are an advanced beginner or beyond and have an interest in the Blues, this is the course for
you.
Guarantee: As with the original Steve Krenz Learn and Master Guitar, the
Blues Guitar course is backed by an unconditional, 60-Day, "No Questions Asked" Guarantee.
